Welcome to the 2018-19 school year! My name is Randi Murphy and I am the Art Facilitator at Harrisburg South Middle School.
I grew up on a farm south of Beresford, SD. My Dad was a farmer and rural mail carrier and my Mom was a landscaper. They both still farm, but enjoy the sun in Arizona during the winter. I have one brother and two sisters. All our married and gave me many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Beresford High School, I headed off to Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, MN where I received my bachelor's in Art. I met my husband there and we married in 2002. We moved to Harrisburg in 2003 where we have enjoyed watching this wonderful community grow. We have two children. Both of our children will be at South this year! Our daughter, Caitlin, is in 8th grade and our son, Owen, is in 6th grade. We enjoy taking family trips, camping and spending time on my parents farm. Our family also wouldn't be complete without our BIG fluffy cat, Dublin.
I have worked in the art world as a graphic designer and artist since college. In 2008, I started my own business painting murals and canvases for both residential and commercial. Many of my paintings can be found around the U.S. and in several other countries. In 2014 I decided to take my passion for painting and share it with the youth and attended the University of Sioux Falls where I received my Master's in Education in 2016.
